Black Rock Closes Curtain on 2009 Season with $10,000-to-Win “Big One” Enduro
It is now the week of the final race of the 2009 Black Rock Speedway Season and the staff and management have set up a sure-fire way to send the year off with a bang.
The $10,000-to-Win National Parts Peddler Big One Enduro will highlight an exciting two days of racing on the first Saturday in November. Add to it the fact that Big Block and Small Block modifieds will return to Yates County for the first time in a year and it is sure to be a great fall weekend.
The 4-cylinder enduro race is a great unknown as the majority of the entries have yet to been sent in and approximately 5% of the field knows where they will start. With an open draw for all but the first 25 starting spots, things will be up for grabs from the drop of the green flag for the 100 lap event.
The enduro will be the third and final feature on Saturday afternoon, with racing starting at 1:00 p.m. The enduro division will not run heat races, which means only two classes will have qualifiers on Saturday afternoon.
Swarthout Recycling has helped to bring the modifieds back to BRS as it will be a Big Block/Small Block Shootout with rules to allow just about anyone to come in and play. The $2,000-to-win race has drawn interest from across the Northeast and should be a fun return.
There will also be an open sportsman event, paying $1,500-to-win. If the winner utilizes a legal GM Crate Motor, they will get a bonus $500 from Hoselton Automall. A $100 bonus will also be given out by Hoselton if a crate motor car finishes in the top-five.
Among the cars that were strong with GM Crate power this year was Donnie Lawson, who locked up the overall 2009 Sportsman Championship by virtue of the October 23rd rainout. Lawson led the division in wins, with 12, including the most recent in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series Finale.
Friday Night will also be full of action, along with plenty of time for practice. Three enduros will be held over the course of the night, each $1,000-to-win. The first event has the top-24 spots locked in from the event from October 24 that was curfewed out. This race will still be open to competitors however.
There will be a $1,000-to-win Street Stock race for any competitors, plus the Charlie Pruden Memorial Street Stock event, which will be attempted to be run for the third time. This race is closed to only Woodhull Raceway competitors.
The RWD 4-cylinders will also be part of the card with a $500-top-win event to round out the season. Practice for all divisions will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the first feature will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. For more information visit www.BlackRockSpeedway.com
