Tim Kelly and Bryan Howland File First Entries for Black Rock’s Fall Sprint Nationals

Less than three weeks from now, the event that defined Black Rock for nearly a decade will return to it’s familiar fall weekend for New York’s highest paying sprint car show of the year. In preparation, two frontrunners at races earlier this season at Black Rock are already entered.

Tim Kelly, from nearby Rock Stream, along with Bryan Howland, of Auburn, are the first two entries for Black Rock’s Fall Sprint Nationals. While it was of little doubt that they would be in attendance on September 10 and 11, this ceremonious accomplishment also highlights the talent from near and far invading Dundee this fall.

Kelly, who won at Black Rock in 1997, was the runner-up to Chuck Hebing at the 2010 Season Opener on April 30. Kelly currently stands third in Patriot points and was also runner-up in the A-Verdi Storage Containers King of Upstate New York Series.

Howland claimed the A-Verdi King of Upstate New York at Black Rock earlier this month when he captured his first sprint car win in Dundee. Howland is also leading the ASCS Patriot standings and is closing in on his fourth championship.

While the first two entries are regular with the ASCS Patriots, Ohio’s National Racing Alliance, Ohsweken’s Corr/Pak Sprints and Michigan’s ASCS Sprints on Dirt are also in support of this event.

With more than 60 of the top sprint car teams from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Ontario, Quebec and further expected to go after the $5,000 top prize, entries are sure to start flowing in rapidly. Early entry for the Saturday event is in place until the end of August.

Before August 31, drivers that send in their entry fee will get a complimentary pit pass for Saturday Night. Checks should be made payable to Black Rock Speedway and sent to: Josh Aylsworth, 420 Scribner Road, Corfu, NY, 14036.

Entry forms are available from the Black Rock website by clicking on the image of Jessica Zemken’s No. 14 Sprint Car. Information about the qualifying procedure for each night as well as technical rules is also available on this special webpage of www.BlackRockSpeedway.com.
