Mother Nature Wins For 2nd Straight Week; Grit Series Set To Invade Tuesday

DUNDEE, NY – For Immediate Release – June 13th, 2015 –

For the second time in as many weeks, racing action will have to be limited to a Tuesday night special at Black Rock Speedway.  A gloomy forecast and Tornado watches affecting several counties including Black Rock’s home of Yates County, forced Promoter Mike Jackson to pull the plug on Friday night’s program at approximately 3:30PM.

“We knew the weather forecast was bad all day, but we never did receive any rain prior to making the call to cancel at 3:30,” said Jackson.

“My plan was to wait as long as I could because we hadn’t been affected by any weather at all.  Once we received word from Yates County and the National Weather Service about the Tornado watch, we had no choice.  Whether it’s fans or race teams- we always put their safety first.”

The cancellation will now see the makeup features from June 5th get juggled around on the schedule.  Friday June 19th for the Jeffy Searles Memorial Race Night will see a full weekly show along with makeup features for the Crate Sportsman and the M&M Auto Sales & Service IMCA Modifieds.  The racing action on Friday June 26th, sponsored by Blue Heron Construction, will also see a full weekly show with makeup features for the Modifieds, MRC Street Stocks and NAPA Know How 4 Cylinders.

SUNY Canton Grit Racing Series presented by Teo Pro Car Invades Tuesday

The second June mid-week must-see event at Black Rock Speedway is coming up on Tuesday June 16th as the SUNY Canton Grit Racing Series presented by Teo Pro Car is set to invade for their first of two shows at ‘The Rock’ in 2015.  This event falls on the Grit American Racer calendar and comes just 5 days after a Grit Series event at neighboring Canandaigua Motorsports Park saw Rocky Warner dominate all 40 laps.

The SUNY Canton Grit Series will be the feature division on Tuesday that kicks off at 7PM sharp.

The last time the Grit Series was in town, ‘The Flying Squirrel’ Warner pulled off an impressive comeback from the back to the front in the Crate Classic 100 held back in October of 2014.  Warner is now with a new team in the Jake Spraker-owned 1J and has been a force to reckon with.

Grit point leader Dave Marcuccilli looks to be tough as well, but don’t forget about defending Black Rock Speedway Crate Sportsman champion Casey Pavlick.  Pavlick leads the points at ‘The Rock’ so far in 2015 and also picked up his first Grit win of 2015 at Skyline just a few weeks back.

Support divisions that will also be on hand for Tuesday’s show are the M&M Auto Sales & Service IMCA Modifieds, Morseman Racing Chassis Street Stocks and NAPA Know How 4 Cylinders.  The Street Stocks and 4 Cylinders will race for 15 show up points and will use the draw/redraw format for this show only.  Speedway officials are still working to confirm with the IMCA sanctioning body for permission to run race under the same format for the IMCA division.

Admission on Tuesday will be just $12, with seniors and ages 12-17 being just $10.  Children under 12 are always free at Black Rock Speedway.  Pit admission is set at $27 for members and $35 for non-members.  Pit gates open at 4PM, Grandstands at 5PM and racing getting underway at 7.

Black Rock Speedway Memberships

As a reminder, speedway memberships will only be sold until the Friday July 3rd race.  Drivers are reminded that the $25 membership makes them eligible for all point fund monies at the season-ending banquet.  A speedway membership also saves you $5 at the pit gate weekly, which allows the membership to pay for itself in just 5 race events.

Membership sign ups are available at the pit sign-in booth on race night or by making arrangements with Black Rock Speedway Promoter Mike Jackson.
